Herb Bread Stuffing (Holiday Meal Collection)

bread-stuffing

One of the most pleasant parts of holiday food comfort is that smooth, warm bread stuffing that you serve along with your choice of meat and other side dishes. I really enjoy a great stuffing with a nice thick gravy. Let’s make a nice bread stuffing and season it to your taste.

6 cups Dried Bread Cubes (I use the recipe for my own bread to make these fresh bread cubes)

I dry my cubed bread in the oven by cutting the loaves of bread into cubes and placing the cubed pieces into the 200F oven for about 25-40 min depending on the humidity of the bread I am using.

2 cups chicken stock

1/2 cup white wine

1/2 cup melted butter

1 cup chopped sauteed celery (saute in a tsp olive oil)

1/2 cup chopped sauteed onion (saute in tsp olive oil)

1/4 tsp chopped fresh rosemary

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1/2 tsp chopped fresh parsley

1/4 tsp dried ground sage

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1/8 tsp dried ground thyme

(Here is where you decide what additional goodies you place in your stuffing: Chopped apple, ground sauteed sausage, chopped bacon bits, sauteed mushrooms)

Place dried bread cubes in a large mixing bowl

Sprinkle all your dried ingredients on top of the bread cubes

Gently toss the bread cubes in your dried seasoning

Add the chicken stock, white wine and melted butter

Add onion and celery

Add fresh all fresh chopped herbs

Gently toss all the stuffing goods into the wine, buttery chicken stock

Place the stuffing into a covered baking pan (cover with aluminum foil ) or covered glass baking dish

Bake in preheated 350F oven about 25 min or lightly browned

Wait until you pull the lid off this great dish…. it smells so fresh and delicious. You want to just eat it as a main dish. Go ahead try some!
