Baked Honey Ham (Holiday Meal Collection)
Ham, Turkey, pork roast and prime rib are probably a top served choice for the American holiday foodies. I have always been guided by the desire of my spouse as she is my number one food fan. I can make thousands of recipes and meal combinations. I just let her guide the meals that are shared. She loves ham and here I will make a Baked Honey Ham for our holiday. Let’s make a baked honey ham.
I will buy a cured, smoked ham and apply a marinade that I make special for the ham. I will share my holiday marinade with you so you can apply and bake your favorite ham on the holidays.
Chef Gosselin Honey Ham Glaze
1 cup honey
1/2 cup orange marmaladeĀ jam
1 tsp dijon mustard
1/4 cup whole cloves
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter (softened)
5-8 pound cured, smoked ham
Score the ham with your boning knife as to leave a nice grid of one inch squares all over the surface of the ham about 1/2 inch deep cut.
Stud the whole cloves into the slits on the ham. I press the spike of the clove into the ham flesh.
Place all the remaining ingredients into a small sauce panĀ and use your whisk (med heat ) to nicely blend the thick sugary ingredients into your glaze
Constantly whisk as you bring the glaze to a light boil. (Do not allow it to burn)
Set aside to cool
Bake ham uncovered in a preheated 325F oven for 1 hour
Remove and baste with glaze
Cover with foil and return to oven
Repeat basting every ten min for about 5 additional bastings (continue to keep covered with foil as you return the ham to over)
Remove ham and allow to rest for 5 min
Carve and plate
WOW…. what a powerful item to bring to the table on a holiday!
