Ham as a meal just seems to be a bit tastier on Easter Sunday. I place the ham in the oven and make a path towards the church. This year I will remain home and watch the service via the Internet. My church places the service online for safety’s sake.
I have posted other side dishes that you will find interesting. They will be part of my meal for Easter Day.
1 spiral cut ham
1 can slice pinapple (drained, save liquid)
5 ea maraschino cherries
20 + wooden toothpicks
2 tbsp butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup pineapple juice (from saved juice)
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F
In a medium bowl, mix together the pineapple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and honey.
Place the ham roasting pan, and carefully pour the juice mixture over it.
Place butter in a large frypan on med heat
Add sliced pineapples to butter and lightly brown pineapple slices on both sides
Place the pineapples onto the top of the ham, and secure with toothpicks. Place cherries into the centers of the rings, and secure them with toothpicks also.
Warm the ham for 2 hours in the preheated oven. The internal temperature should be 160 degrees F (80 degrees C) when done.
Let ham stand for 10 minutes before carving.
