I have had chicken wings served in many different forms. Being a New Yorker that spent a few college years in the Buffalo New York area… the chicken wings that they call Buffalo Wings are my favorite. I have a gal we call wife. She does not enjoy the Buffalo-style chicken wing. So Let’s make a honey bbq chicken wing that I will first sizzle cook in hot oil and then coat and bake with her favorite bbq sauce.
Not a single wing survived the first 20 min of the feast. The girls put them away early.
2.5 pounds chicken wings
1 cup cooking oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups barbeque sauce
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Prepare a sheet pan with baking parchment.
In a large skillet place 1 cup cooking oil
Heat to a medium heat
Place the chicken wings in the hot oil
Sear wings on all side by using tongs to flip them in the pan
Remove wings from hot oil and transfer to the parchment lined cooking sheet
Sprinkle chicken wings with salt and pepper
Bake until wings are crispy and browned
Remove wings from oven and transfer to a large bowl
Add BBQ sauce to bowl and toss the wings to coat
Return the wing to parchment paper covered baking pan
Bake for 5 more minutes
Serve the wings with ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing and little slices of celery and carrots.
