A nice hot sandwich can make for a great meal. I occasionally make a nice hoagie sandwich with sauteed Italian sweet sausage and some blended bell peppers and onion. It is so good. Let’s make a hot Italian Sauage with peppers and onion.
1 ea large red bell pepper (cored and sliced)
1 ea large green bell pepper (cored and sliced)
1 ea sweet Vidalia onion (skinned and sliced)
4 ea sweet Italian sausage links
4 ea hoagie buns (I open my bun and toast it a bit)
1 ea garlic clove (minced)
1 oz olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
in a large saute pan or skillet brown the Italian sausage on all sides (medium stove heat)
Remove sausages and add pepper and onions to the skillet
Add olive oil over the peppers and onions and toss in the skillet to coat
Add garlic and stir to infuse flavor
Continue tossing the pepper mix until browning begins
Add sausage and bring sausage up to temperature.
Transfer sausage to a hoagie roll and top with pepper and onion
You can further melt cheese on your hoagie. My gal does not like all that cheese so I do without. Provolone cheese or Asiago cheese adds a nice flavor if you use cheese. Place the sandwich on a small tray and toast it in the oven or toaster oven. Enjoy!
Serve with potato chips and sweet pickles.
