I asked my gal if she wanted some teriyaki chicken. Well, it was a quick …”YES”. So I need some teriyaki sauce. Let’s just make some because I need some for this meal.
5 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
1–2 tablespoons honey
1 large clove of garlic (minced)
1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 tbsn cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Place 1 cup water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger in a medium saucepan on med heat.
Create a cornstarch slurry In a small bowl.
Mix the cornstarch with the 1/4 cup water.
Whisk until dissolved. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan.
Heat the sauce until it thickens to the consistency of syrup. Add more water If the sauce becomes too thick.
No use of corn starch slurry for this sauce. After a low heat reduction with constant stirring, it was perfect for my crockpot use.
